Jwoyi's 6th Birthday

by Ida Khoo @ Jwo Yi’s mummy
Your 6th birthday this year 21st Oct 2012 is the most different from your 1st to your 5th birthday. You might ask me why if you were reading this post when you grow older. You might have forgotten by then.

First and most important is daddy is not with you on your birthday because we are back in Penang and daddy is in Beijing, China. But daddy came back a week earlier for the mid-autumn break in China and daddy got you 3 big boxes of lego and one small box of lego. But daddy got you your birthday gift when we are in Shanghai. Daddy got you a doggy gold pendant.

Second different is that you did not celebrate in school this year because you just started schooling for 2 months only and you don't have any friends, so you said it's okay that you don't celebrate at school.

Third is because it coincide with the 9 Emperor god's day. Amah and Kong kong were on vegetarian for 9 days so they can't celebrate with you. And on your birthday that night I have to go on vegetarian as well so I celebrate with you one day earlier.

I took you to Dome at Straight Quey to celebrate. It's only me and you. We order one mushroom soup and a fish and chips. I bought for you two small box of blocks to play while we eat. You were enjoying your self. Then when we get home only me, Ee and Kelly sing birthday song and cut cake with you. I order Baskin Robin's ice-cream cake for you.

So there you go.Your 6th birthday is one that is so different from your 1st to 5th birthday.
Miss daddy the most as daddy is not here with us. Daddy is also sad as he cannot be here with you.

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY!

Hope your 7th birthday will be more exciting and the most important is hope that daddy will be with you.

Back to Penang - Mid July 2012

by Ida Khoo @ Jwo Yi’s mummy
We came back to Penang in mid of July 2012. And I register you to Phor Tay kindergarten and you said you want to start straight away. I'm happy that you are excited to start your lesson here. It's so much different from the lesson in Shanghai. They write a lot and over here you need to do spelling in English, Malay and Chinese. I'm afraid that you can't catch up so I get a tutor for you.

The tutor teach you only two things. One is Chinese and another one is Malay. I told your tutor that you never write or learn in Malay before but for Chinese you might recognize some character but you never learn to write before. So she load you with lots of writing and that you are writing almost for one hour to two hours to finish your homework.

Around last week of September your school teacher told me that the one whole week you need to go to school and don't miss school. You came back on Monday and told me you are having exam at school. And form what I understand from your amah that the school will notice parents if there is exam, but I did not receive any notice at all. So I was thinking to myself that this time you will sure flunk from that exam.

Then early October you were preparing for your graduation. Last week when I pick you up your teacher told me that you got a trophy for 4th place and I was like huh????? Than your teacher said "Oh she got 4th place in her exam". I was like ah?????

And on the way I drive you back I was beaming with pride and I'm so happy because you just start kindy here for 2 months and you don't even know Malay and writing in Chinese and Malay.

I AM PROUD OF YOU JWOYI!
